Individual Counselling and Psychotherapy to Support You in Your Journey

It's painful to feel like you're the only one struggling.

Being a human is hard. We're expected to do so much in a world that really isn't built to support us. It's difficult to attend to our physical needs, never mind attending to our emotional needs and mental wellbeing. I work with women and gender diverse people who feel simultaneously like too much and not enough, both in their bodies and in their minds. I believe that your feelings are valid, you have inherent worth, and you are enough exactly how you are. And I hope to support you in believing this for yourself.

I aim to support you in recognizing your emotions, giving you a safer space to explore your thoughts, while recognizing how systemic issues like patriarchy, white supremacy, ableism, anti-fat bias, colonialism, heteronormativity, cisnormativity, and capitalism impact you. These systems often make their way into our everyday thoughts, and making it harder to find value in ourselves. I’m passionate about creating a world where people in all sizes of bodies and with various identities feel worthy, at peace, and have equitable access to services, resources, and care. Having had my own experience in coming to a place of self-acceptance, I know the value of connecting with your body and feelings to get to a place of acceptance (and perhaps even love) with your body and yourself.

What You Get

  • Individual session time in a safe, supportive environment from the comfort of your own home (sessions are virtual only).

  • A trained Registered Social Worker - I have training in various therapeutic modalities, including Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (or parts work), Compassion Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and others. I am constantly adding to my therapeutic repertoire and learning through workshops, courses, and peer and clinical supervision.

  • A space focused on consent and choice. I check in regularly to make sure we are focusing on what you want, and that things aren't feeling too overwhelming. I support you to build resources to cope with overwhelm.

  • Someone who understands what it's like to live in a larger body, and experience other intersecting forms of oppression.

  • A process driven by you. I want to hear where you're at and where you're coming from. I welcome feedback and I am committed to repairing if any ruptures occur.

  • Encouragement around self-compassion, mindful noticing of thoughts and feelings, and a safe space to actually feel your feelings. Tears are welcome with me!

  • Suggestions of strategies and collaborative problem-solving.

  • A variety of therapeutic approaches in my work. My approach is eclectic and intuitive- I use what feels most helpful in the moment.

  • Sometimes, fun! Counselling is a place to explore your struggles, but it can also be a place to celebrate your wins!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes! If my approach interests you and you do not identify with one of those groups, you can still work with me. Even if people do not identify as part of a marginalized group, systemic issues do impact them and how they feel about themselves and the world. Book a Discovery Call so we can chat more about this and see if we're a fit!

  • Yes! I provide general counselling as well as issue-specific counselling. I always want to be sure that we are diving into what you want to talk about. Feel free to bring whatever is on your mind :)

  • As of Jan 1, 2025 my fee is $180 per session. Sessions are one full hour in length. If cost is a barrier, I do have limited sliding scale spots. Please email me or book a Discovery Call to inquire about availability.

  • Yes! I can direct bill companies that are covered through the Telus E-Claims platform, as long as your coverage includes a Social Worker (either Registered or Master’s- I have both).

Insurance companies that have partnered with Telus include (but not limited to): Canada Life, Manulife, Desjardins, Pacific Blue Cross, and more. Please get in touch to determine if yours is covered. Please note, unfortunately Sunlife and Green Shield are not covered.

I will provide a receipt of all fees paid. If your insurance company is not on the list, the information on the receipt should be sufficient to claim a re-imbursement, but let me know if they need further info.

  • Updated November 2024- Yes! If Discovery Calls are available as a session choice on my Janeapp, then I am currently taking new clients. If not, please email me to be added to the wait list. You can always ask how long I think it might be until I can take on new clients again. Please note I see people virtually only.
